The NHS, at least in the past, had a special provision for it's future pensioners whereby a vulnerable dependent could be paid a "child allowance" after the pensioner's death, if application was made and strict conditions met.
The person I care for has such a "child allowance" by virtue of lifelong handicap. Will that income be taken into account when calculating her ESA? (assuming she makes it through the SDA to ESA conversion)
Am I right in also thinking ESA is taxable, where SDA was not?
Thanks.

The rule for pensions on transfer is that if it was disregarded for the original benefit then it will be disregarded for ESA. I know there are disregards for Incapacity Benefit but I am afraid I have never investigated this for SDA.
Contribution Based ESA, which SDA claimants should be transferred to, is liable to tax, whether any is payable will depend on the claimants circumstances.
