Claiming ESA

It hasn't, and after a week I am really struggling to cope.
If I claim ESA do I tell them that I worked for a week even though I have not signed a contract and was just shadowing other staff for that time?
There is no sick pay in this job either.

They will likely need to about this job to ensure that you are not entitled to SSP and also in regard to your NI Contribution history if you intend to claim ESA(CB).

I will only be entitled to income based ESA and there is definitely no sick pay with this job...will they need to contact the employer if I do declare it? and will they be awaiting any information from them before they can process my claim?
This is whats putting me off declaring because in the short time I was there they are the most unorganised company I've ever dealt with so can't see them replying with any real haste!

Contribution Based ESA is not dependant on Statutory Sick Pay but rather your NI Contribution history, the current Tax Years that will be used are 2011-12 and 2012-13.
You may need to provide a P45 showing that this employment has ended.
