ESA Appeal refused was created by Jazz
Hi,
I live in Germany and have been receiving ESA and the middle rate of Care Conponment (DLA), and have recently attended an appeal (in the UK) for ESA. I was placed in the WRAG and had hoped to be placed in the Support Group. My appeal was refused. In a few weeks, my 12 months ESA will come to an end. This means that the only income I will have is my DLA of around 251 Euros per month. As I am expected to look for work, does this mean I can apply for JSA whilst living in Germany? If so, how would I go about it? The other question I would like to ask is, if I am not entitled to JSA, will I be allowed to look for part time work in Germany whilst still receiving my DLA? My DLA is not enough to survive on for one month on its own, but I need to know if it has me in a stanglehold, preventing me from taking part time work.

Any advice would very much appreciated.

We don't deal with the exportability of benefits on the forum, you might want to see if there is an ex-pats group in Germany who may be able to help you.

That said, as far as I am aware JSA can only be claimed if you are resident in the UK, you may be eligible to claim the German equivalent.

Your ability to work in Germany will depend on their legislation, however, I thought the idea of the Open Borders was to allow people who live in the EC to work anywhere in the EC.
