Good afternoon, I've just started with claiming ESA ( and it being refused ). Hello to all from a dedicated lurker, be kind to me, I am an ex-nurse !!! Stop the Booing at the back there.

Well I phoned and gave all my info to claims lady. Await form and send it back she said. Today I got a letter saying I am not eligible for either contributions or income related. REFUSED !! I phoned and got told the form which I am meant to correct info and send back was sent out the day before the refusal.
BTW I got refused cos I'm getting too much income. Income which I won't get as my SSP ( that and tax credits was my only income) has stopped, so my working tax credit will too. DWP want evidence of this. HMRC won't send until date of SSP ending arrives...SO ARRRGGGHHH.

UPshot of all this has increased my stress levels thru the roof, therefore my tightness and chest pain has increased too, and as the reason I'm not working is because of severe CHD and Angina, with complications of Diabetes and smashed up shoulder from a RTA. This is all gonna go t*ts up as I'm due to have surgery on my heart very soon., can just see me being evicted cos I've no income and me and my kids made homeless. I'm a single dad too.

Sorry for being a moan, reason I was on here was to get information to provide to clients, I volunteered at a Disability Day Centre which caters for physical and learning difficulties. I've often puzzled at how the GOV can be so harsh on folk, now I'm part of it it's truly mind boggling and inept, stupid and so full of red tape. Come the revolution...

Hi bm,

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If you haven't already done so, you might want to browse our :

ESA FAQ’s

And our :

ESA Claims Guides

"can just see me being evicted cos I've no income and me and my kids made homeless."

If this is due to the fact that you are/were in receipt of Housing Benefit (HB) you should inform the HB Dept of your LA, and inform them of a change in your income/circumstances.

It is possible to make a nil income HB claim.
