ESA: 31st March 2014 was created by MariW
Nearly four years ago, it was announced that all claimants of IB, SDA, and ISA would be assessed for ESA in a process that was expected to be complete by 31st March 2014. I’m still waiting for the initial DWP notification that the process has begun for me.
Thanks to this website, I know that ATOS have a backlog of such a scale that the DWP have halted reassessments of existing ESA claimants. Since that information was released, ATOS have opted out of their contract and will leave the scene when the government have decided on another third-party company to carry out the Work Capacity Assessment.
Much as I dread hearing from the DWP regarding ESA I never expected to wait so long for assessment of limitations resulted from a progressive medical condition. Fear of the process has affected me mentally. I am not the person I was four years ago.
Am I likely to be notified very soon or could it be months off? I just wish I knew.

Hi Mari,
I'm afraid that we cannot predict when you might hear from DWP regarding your migration.

Thank you MariW for reminding us that this is the day that the whole migration of
IB to ESA was to have been completed.
Just amazing there are people not even contacted yet.
I received my migration ESA50 form on 30th March 2013. Not a word since I returned it.
I totally agree with Mari's points about the stress of waiting and how we are totally
different people because of this horrible process. I wish so much that I knew but cannot go
anywhere near these people and their crazy system.
We do not even know the size of this backlog or any clur how long this nightmare will last.
This is affecting people adversely in many ways.

I saw a DWP statistic at the end of last year which suggested that they were 93% through the process, but there was no indication of whether this was completed transfers or started ones, I suspect the latter.

All I can suggest is that you contact your MP and tell him/her just how badly the system is treating you!
