I received a call today booking a slot for me to speak to a decision maker regarding my husbands medical on Monday. Does this mean he's about to be found fit for work?
What my best plan of action during the telephone conversation

It is very quick but it is the most likely reason.
Assuming that it is for this reason, then you don't have to take the call, but if you do not, then the DM will make a Decision without seeking any further input.
The fact that they are making the call means that they still have some doubt over finding him Fit for Work, so they will be seeking more information about how his conditions effect his day to day activities.
If you can, record the call, have all of his papers next to the phone and if you can create an index to where everything is in the pile so that you can find things quickly, also, create a short checklist of the reasons why you believe he meets the criteria for ESA and why as an aide memoire.
Best of luck

During the call booking the callback from The Adam the lady advised that since November 2013 this process is always used I.e telephone call to discuss the medical.
You mention making an aid memoir - would it be best to note the descriptors and then list the reasons my husband would met them.

That is certainly not my impression from this or other forums.

Whatever works best for you, but I would suggest that you stick to just dealing with the ones you think he should score points for, don't waste your time and the DM's arguing about descriptors that are unlikely to result in points.
