DLA renewal question, help please

Hi,
After trying to prepare my friend who has mental health problems for the new PIP ,he has received this morning ,6 mths before the renewal date in July which I know is right,
a DLA renewal form DLA1A Jan 2014 form.
My questions are if anyone knows are, I thought he would have been sent a new
PIP for as its a DLA renewal and I thought they are all going to be PIP now rules still
and should I treat this as DLA or PIP? My neighbour has recently had her DLA reviewed but
had to complete the new PIP form!
Does anyone know of anyone who is being renewed under DLA at the mo as
the form is a new Jan 2014 form of which there is no reference in the guides
that any details are different than the Jan 2013 form?. We are a bit confused as we have
no previous form to compare to see if there is any difference
Any advise would be welcome, many thanks

DLA claimants with a fixed term award will only be invited to claim PIP if, when their award comes up for renewal, they are in an active PIP area, see the following

As your friend has been sent DLA forms then their renewal will be for DLA, a DLA claim form cannot be used in relation to a PIP claim.
I am not aware of a new form, but there have been no changes to the DLA legislation, so the current guides should still be applicable.
Please remember to treat this as a new claim for DLA and complete the form in detail and supply evidence as available, you should not assume that those assessing your friend will have any knowledge of their previous claim.

I was sent a DLA form in October and filled it in and sent in January as my old claim finishes today I noticed some of the wording was different from 2 years previous but as Gordon said the current guides are still applicable
