PIP assessment was created by ELEANOR
Has anyone here been through the assessment? I have mine on March 11. Having been turned down for ESA and had to appeal (thankfully I was siccessful) I feel there is nothing I can do to prepare for this as they will inevitably turn down my claim and I will have to appeal for this, too. Am I wrong? I am only claiming the mobility component.

Many of my clients are still waiting for a decision on PIPs, some for over 6 months now. However I have had some decisions come back and most have been successfull. Some of my clients who had been repeatedly turned down for DLA I have helped claim PIPs. Interestingly these clients have been mostly successfull so far. So it seems their are winners and losers.
I would advice you to have someone take you to the assessment even if you don't want them to come in with you. As you have mentioned mobility issues make sure to take any aids with you. Remember you will be observed before and after as well as during the assessment. Assumptions will be made about your capacity based on how you got to the assessment and your appearance. If you wish to have your assessment recorded you should mention this now.
If it is a home assessment make sure you have any aids near you. Assumptions will be made about your capacity based on your home environment. Make sure you have any painkillers and medication to hand. Preferably have someone with you. I have been informed you are legally entitled to covertly record your assessment if you wish.

Hi ie,
The little feed back that we have from our members and from other sites points to the PIP F2F Assessment being much like the format of an ESA F2F.
If you are going to covertly record the assessment, make sure that the assessing HCP is not aware of it.
If they do become aware, they may refuse to carry out the assessment, or stop it if they have already started.

The latest version of the PIP Claim guide has details of the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Thanks everyone. My husband will come with me and take notes. He always pushes me in the wheelchair right into the room. I never wash my hair or wear make-up when attending assessments. Despite this I was given 0 points at my last ESA assessment but successfully appealed so I am expecting the same thing to happen here. If I am pleasantly surprised, I will let you all know.
