MAKING NEW PIP CLAIM was created by Augustus
Hi

I am currently in ESA Support group and I am making a new PIP claim. I live in London. Can someone please give me an idea of how long from DWP receiving the form can I expect to wait for a medical assessment?
Is ATOS still continuing with assessing fresh claimants?
And how long roughly, or very roughly from form-received stage to a decision?

PS: Are there stated guidelines as to how long DWP and/or ATOS should take? And if they are breaches, are these grounds for complaining that the process is taking too long?
Many thanks

A

Hi Augustus,

No, there are no rules as to how long claims for ESA/PIP should take to process, I don't know if there are any informal 'guidelines'.

In most areas PIP claims are taking a very long time with people waiting months for a face2face assessment and then again for a decision. As this is such a new benefit we don't have much information regarding any regional differences. Maybe members in your area will be able to comment.

They may be telling ATOS but I am not sure that they have a "stick" to beat them with if they don't manage it.
