how long does it take to recieve benefit after putting a new claim in for esa if i have all the relevant documents, ie sick note. the form was sent on the 12th february by special delivery. it hasnt been looked or logged yet and i am desperate as i have had no income since the 24th january when my staturory sick pay finished.

I would expect a new claim to go into payment with the ESA assessment rate after 10-14 days, but there is no required timescale for this to happen within.

You say it has not been "looked or logged yet", have you been in touch with the DWP as to what is happening with it? If not then you should, there are lots of reasons why payment can be delayed, many only take a few minutes to resolve,

Unfortunately there is little that you can do in this situation other than escalating the problem to a Customer Services Manager, this usually requires a call back so try and make the initial call in the morning.

Your big problem is that you are talking to the Call centre staff, not the people who are in principle dealing with your claim, so they can only provide information on what is showing on the computer system, a CSM can actually call the department and find out what the delay is.
