This morning I heard on the radio about next months Care .net (Think thats its correct name though there is very little on Google.)
Seems it originated as a newspaper story.
Basically all Patients medical records are to be forwarded to a national computer.
People were saying that the promise of anonymity is not reliable.
My local GP surgery hadnt heard of it.
I presented them with an opt out A4 written sheet none the less.
Even some NHS workers and GPs are opposed saying The Govt will be able to scrutinise the medical records all recipients of DLA,former IB and current ESA.
Can you advise re the incongruencies mentioned here?

Hi J,

Yes, this scheme is being rolled out by NHS England :

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-26030479

www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/records/hea...Pages/care-data.aspx

You should receive a leaflet through your door, although there is some criticism that said leaflet does not supply much information on opting out :

Doesnt bother me government bodies accessing as i have nothing to hide and it may save them sending forms to GP who get paid at the moment for filling them in.

The goverment are going to sell our information to businesses. They say that anonymity will be guaranteed but I'm not so sure - especially as ATOS are involved!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Yes MHB,

The concern is, how secure the personal information is once it leaves your G.P. Practice.

If there is money to be made ................................

Of course, it is up to the individual to make an informed decision.

The main criticism is that not much information is openly available.
