Decision on PIP. Does anyone know the timescale? was created by Martin S
Hi, I wondered if anyone could give me any indication of the timescale before receiving notification of the decision.
I first applied for PIP in 1st October last year, had my assessment on 14 January this year. I really cannot comprehend the attitude of both the DWP and Capita who both state basically 'it takes as long as it takes'.
I wonder if they would have the same attitude if it were impacting on their own lives!!

Hi Martin,
I'm afraid that we have very few members who have actually received a decision on their PIP claim. As you have found, claimants are waiting for many months to hear anything and there does not seem to be any sence of urgency form 'the powers that be'. Your MP might be interested to hear how claimants are really being affected.

I assisted a lady apply for PIP late August 2013. She had her F2F assessment (Capita) on 18 October which seemed to go quite well. She is still waiting for her decision letter. I have spoken with DWP on numerous occasions who informed me that the Capita report was with audit. On the last occasion I was given Capita tel no. Capita informed me the report was now with a senior assessor and was in its final stage. So, compared with a piece of string I haven't found the end yet. Hopefully it wont be long now. 5 months is long enough.

Can you explain what PIP is and how do I qualify to get it?

Personal Independence Payments is a replacement benefit for Disability Living Allowance and is awarded for claimant with care and/or mobility needs.
There is a guide to claiming PIP in the members area that explains more about the benefit and the qualifying criteria.
