Hello please help, I was put in ESA support group, do I still need to submit sick notes to DWP? Do I still need to request sicknotes from my GP to serve as my records? Is it safe to phone DWP to ask if how long I will be in a Support group? Thank you.

Hi C,

If you have been placed into The SG, you do not have to continue to obtain "sicknotes" from your G.P., neither do you have to comply with any WFI's or WRA.

Yes, it is fine to phone the DWP on the 0845 number on your ESA letter, you will speak to a DWP Call Responder in a call centre.

They should have the recommended period before the SG award is reassessed on their computer screens. (The Prognosis)

Just to clarify, once you qualify for ESA in either The WRAG or the SG, you do not have to obtain "sicknotes" (fit notes) from your G.P.

As an aside to bro's excellent advice, technically you do not need to submit further fitnotes but you should continue to do so until ESa is being paid with the WRAg/SG component so that you can be sure DWPs record are up to date.

You can request the ESA85A over the phone by ringing the 0845 number.
