DLA to PIP - No time to rest

We've no 'forms' through as yet, but no doubt they'll arrive at some point whether it be next weekend or 6 months time. I just wanted to do a little research before they arrive and this hole stressful process starts all over again

I filled out your PIP self test for my dad just to see what we're going to be up against. He scored 18 points in the 'daily living' section and 24 points in the 'mobility' section. More than enough - - hopefully. But will the decision maker agree? We'll have to see...
Just a couple of questions for now:
1) After just having an incorrect ESA decision overturned with a reconsideration, and a 3 year prognosis applied due to my dad's condition having a degenerative nature, could this carry any weight with my dad's continuing claim for DLA? Unlikely I know. I'm just hoping...
2) Is there anything we can do to prepare before we get the claim forms for PIP sent to us? - whenever that will be...

A general letter through the post confirming my dad's DLA is due to change to PIP (at some point) and if I'm reading correctly he'll have to reapply for PIP should he choose to continue receiving his DLA

Hi Bb,
Is your Dad in receipt of a fixed term DLA award, or is it indefinite?
Information can be found below on The PIP Postcode Map for areas where DLA fixed term recipients will be transferred over to PIP. :
www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-p...toolkit-for-partners
DLA recipients with indefinite awards will not be invited to claim PIP until sometime after October 2015.
Even though qualifying criteria for PIP and ESA are different, an ESA SG award is a good indication of a severe disability.
In-site information on PIP can be found from the links below :

It's not clear from your post whether your father has received an informational letter in regard to PIP of notice that he has to apply for PIP, if the latter then it is incumbent on the claimant to initiate a PIP claim, the DWP will not be sending the forms to anybody without this being done, further, claimants have only four weeks to request the forms, after this time their DLA claims will be closed.
If they do start a PIP claim then DLA remains in payment until four weeks after a Decision on their PIP claim is made.

Bluebear wrote: It can be difficult to tell, we sometimes find the DWP correspondence sometimes strangely worded. It doesn't appear like a notice to me. I would say it it simply a informational letter. But it's long... 8 pages. Starts by advising that: Keep this letter safe because it is proof of your entitlement to benefit. Then goes on to explain the workings of money given, changes to tell the DWP about if relevant, then finishes by talking about PIP, advising that: You don't need to contact us about PIP now. This letter will help you understand how these changes may affect you.
It sounds like the yearly DLA entitlement letter.
The purpose of this letter is to give you:
* Proof of entitlement...
* Information about DLA rates
* Information about changes you must tell us about
* Important information about how DLA is being replaced by a new benefit PIP
The PIP transfer letters are on the following link, scroll down to the section marked "re-assessment"
