ESA was created by chris in cardiff
I have been assisting with the application for ESA on mental health grounds (ASD) for a 20 year old man in South Wales. He submitted his application at the beginning of September 2013 and was placed in the assessment phase immediately. After some 18 weeks he is still awaiting his medical assessment from ATOS. Does anyone know if ATOS have any problems servicing the assessments in Wales?

Unfortunately, neither the DWP nor ATOS publish statistics on the wait time for face to face assessments, there are considerable delays throughout the ESA system and indeed many other benefits, across the whole of the country, we do know of claimants who have waited longer, although I doubt this is of much help.
Unless some of the members can report on their experiences for Wales, we cannot be more specific.
You can chase the local ATOS office to find out what is going on.

Hi,
I sent my completed ESA50 to the Cardiff office.
It is 6 weeks since they received mine, not much use to you Chris in Cardiff I know.
Will keep you posted only any further progress from the Cardiff office.

For information purposes ... (Chris in Cardiff).
It is just over twelve weeks since they received my completed ESA50 at the Cardiff office.
I requested a progress update, as of today 3rd March 2014 the informed me that it was waiting to be reviewed by a health care professional.
