Could DLA renewal have triggered early ESA review?

Hi all,

Wifes DLA was renewed end of Dec 13 for further 2 years.

The week after she received a letter from DWP stating the ammount of ESA she would receive, the rates were just the same as the are now It said this was because of a recent change, but there has been no change.

Then this morning ESA50 10/13 through the letter box. Her review date is not till 28th April 14.

Also I though they had to be return within 3 weeks now?

The letter is dated 13th Jan 14 and it say the form must be back 13 Feb 14, which is more than 3 weeks.

Is there a downloadable pdf of this new ESA50 10/13 and what if any, changes to discriptors or criteria regarding mobilising thats different from the old ESA50 form completed Aug 2014

Is it still advisable to send special delivery, with a copy to the decision maker at JCP.

Thanks for you help.

We knew the form would arrive at some point this year, just thought it would have been nearer to the reveiw date.

The DLA form was bad enough, but the dreaded ESA has sent shivers through my wife as it did with the migration ESA in 2012.

Hi awh,

A new ESA50 is generally issued some 2-3 months before the end of a prognosis period of any ESA award, so this is slightly early.

The period allowed to fill in and return the ESA50 has been 4 weeks for some time now. (it was originally 6 weeks)

You should receive a reminder letter 3 weeks after receiving the ESA50.

Some of the questions and ESA Descriptors were changed in Jan 2013. The PDF ESA50 available from the link in the FAQ below is current, and the guides that I will point you towards are also current:

You can download and save The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire, from the download link on this page.

You should fill it in whilst referring to the guides under the heading of "ESA Claims and Appeals - Current forms"

On this page :

Thanks for the info
I shall take a good look through the lastest guides before completing the form

Whats the general concensus on putting phone numbers on the form now?
I can't rearly be bothered speaking to them on the phone.
Does no supplied phone number have any baring on the claim at all?

Is it still wise to sent copies to both ATOS and the Decision Maker at Benefits Centre.

Hi awh,

If you don't want to provide your phone number, then you don't have to.

Sending a shadow copy to The DWP DM is entirely optional, and is a back-up in case the ATOS copy "goes missing".
