ESA

Hi, my son has been on ESA since July 2013 sending in regular fit notes. He has filled in the ESA50 form back in August. Any idea on what to do about the lack of progression from ATOS on this as we have not heard anything and have been told there is a delay in processing at ATOS. Thanks for your help.

As you say, ESA claims are very backlogged at the moment and your story is not unusual. We have heard of people who have been waiting for 40 weeks or more and still haven't got a decision!

You can keep phoning ATOS if you wish, in the hope that they will get fed up and do something! Some people have found that their MPs have been ehlpful in getting things moving, at the very least they should be made aware of how badly the system is failing.

I know of someone who send their form in last May and apart from receiving requests for new sicknotes has not heard anything.
There is a backlog with Atos but I also wonder if it has something to do with making sure the transfer of IB claimants to ESA is completed this year as was originally stated.
