Help with ESA / DLA will I lose it? was created by Suem1960
I was medically retired from the N.H.S about 2yrs ago I received sickness benefit until it ran out,
Then I was told as my husband works I wasn't entitled to anything else.
I have paid full stamp for 37yrs and have been informed that this is enough for me to receive a full pension in the future.
I receive lower payment DLA FOR care/mobility which is supposed tobe for good, when I went to atos medical they said I would be put into the can do some type of light work, that was about 2yrs ago.
Before Christmas atos sent me another ESA 50 to fill in I rang them and was told by one person to ignore it and another to fill it in.
I ignored it and am now worrying that they might call me in for another medical, will this effect my DLA? I could really do with some help
Thanks Sue

Hi S,
If you are new to this site you might find this FAQ helpful
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I am rather concerned that you did not complete and return the ESA50 form that you were sent. Claimants on ESA should expect to be reassessed at intervals between 3 months and 2 years (for those in the work related group, which it sounds as if you were) or 3 years (for those in the 'Support Group'). Failure to return the assessment forms can result in loss of benefit and your claim being closed.
How often will I be reviewed
I think your first step should be to contact DWP, at the number which should be at the top of your award letter, and ask them the status of your claim.
This should not affect your DLA. If you have an indefinite award, you will be contacted and invited to claim PIP some time after 2015 ( as long as you are currently under 66 years of age).
Latest information on PIP
As an aside, I see that you username is probably your real name. Many people prefer to use an alias in order to amintain an element of anonymity on a public forum such as this. If you wish to change your username you should follow the advice in this FAQ.
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Please come back here if you have any further questions, it really helps us if everything is kept in one place. You will find it easily in future if you make it a favourite, or bookmark it, on your web browser
