Hi m537,

If you are in receipt of CB ESA alone (no IR ESA) as this is not means tested, your pensions should not have any adverse effect on your CB ESA payments, as long as they do not exceed £85/Week, much as with Incapacity Benefit.

Any amount is excess of £85/week will be deducted from your ESA at a rate of 50 pence in the pound.

e.g. Weekly Pension income £100/week = £15 in excess of £85 = 50% of £15 = £7.50/Week deducted from your ESA.

If you were migrated over to ESA from another benefit, and your Pension was previously disregarded, it should still be disregarded with ESA, under Transitional Protection :

Will my pension be disregarded under ESA?

ESA is classed as taxable income :

My IB was tax exempt; will it still be under ESA?

My best advice would be to inform The DWP in writing, regarding any Pensions that you may be in receipt of :

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

Especially if you have not done so before.
