So if I do have another medical and report this cuff tear and it is not classed as a new claim would I still get paid the back monies from May or would the DWP at the next hearing say the cuff tear was in July not on the original claim and refuse to pay back the monies from May but only for January to my loss?

This is why you must make the doctor at the assessment aware of your injury, a Decision that includes it's effects could be challenged by the DWP, one where the panel have discounted the effects of it, should not be.
