mobility element once retired was created by sheba68
I get higher rate mobility and due a light review soon., will I lose my mobility car because I'm now a pensioner? I noticed that someone said that that as they are now over pension age they no longer look at the mobility element, nothing has changed since my last review and I rely on my mobility car as I can't walk due to a spinal injury. Does anyone know?

Hi sheba68,
People who already are in receipt of enhanced mobility for PIP, or the equivalent under DLA can continue to receive their mobility award after state pension age. However claimants who develop mobility problems can't begin to receive a mobility award after SPAge or get an increased award if their existing mobility problems deteriorate.
However if you have recently made a Mandatory Reconsideration request or Appeal or are still within time limit to appeal and then do so, if the MR or appeal is successful an increased award for mobility can then be made, even though SPAge has long since arrived. This rule would also apply if DWP revise and reduce an existing award well after SPAge.

Otherwise provided you still have sufficient relevant disability, a PIP or DLA mobility award can continue past SPAge.
I hope this helps.
