Feeling worried over this pip review was created by stephenson
Hi, I have been claiming disability befits first dla now pip for about 15 years. I did a new review sent in June and the person assessing it reported me for being in hospital back in 2018 and sent a letter asking me for a months worth or money back. I had already had a review after that hospital visit and the assessor never reported me. So I had to pay the money back. I’ve now had a phone call asking me about specific dates of another hospital admission from 11 years ago. I am super worried as clearly the person doing my review is really picking at everything. I’ve now got to wait again and feel very worried about all of this. I sent in a huge document to them with additional notes 90 pages worth plus a huge document if hospital letters and evidence. I just wanted to post as is this normal now? My last one was 5 years ago and and all the ones before this were never like this and the fact that they reported me for being in hospital 7 years ago clearly I was very unwell to do that to get money off me has just shown to me the type of character of whom is looking at my review and I’m very worried now thanks for your time

Hi stephenson

If you were in hospital four 4 weeks or more then you should have reported it to PIP. Whilst in hospital over 4 weeks your entitlement would stop, when you come out you contact PIP and your award will re-start.

We would advise you to seek specialist advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk where they can take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you advice.

Hi thanks for your advise. The thing is I was not in there for four weeks it was 5 days and then 7 days seoerate.i paid the money back as I just did not want to cause any more problems with the review. Again the hospital stay when I was thirty was two weeks. I’ve never been in hospital longer.. I have had many reviews over the years but this is a very very different experience. On the phone yesterday I felt like a criminal under investigation and in tears, treated like I’m doing something wrong , as if I want to be in the position I am in

Hi stephenson

Your PIP only stops when you go into hospital for 4 weeks or more, when you come out you contact DWP and your PIP gets reinstated.

When you come out of hospital you should get a discharge letter, which should state when you were admitted and when you were discharged.

We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Specialist; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies in your area advicelocal.uk .
