ESA SUPPORT GROUP/UC MIGRATION was created by Sangita
I need some advice re migration from ESA to UC. I sent in my online application in mid June. I have been in the support group for many years and recently received the enhanced rate of PIP for both elements after a 16 month wait from sending my review form. Yesterday I received a text message to attend an appointment at my local jobcentre to provide bank statements. This sent me into a huge panic as due to the nature of my disabilities, I find it very difficult to leave the house. During migration, I had been advised that they would be aware I received PIP, therfore I was very shocked to be expected to have to attend an in person appointment. I called UC helpline and was told to write this in my journal. I have done this and asked if I can send the bank statements online. I only have one bank account, the same for nearly 40 years, but they are asking for statements from all accounts (the application is for me alone, no dependents). I suffer with extreme anxiety and am feeling extremely panicked because of this. After the long wait for my PIP review, I feel like this is another nightmare. Please can you advise what my rights are in this situation should I be expected to attend an appointment that is just not possible for me to attend in person? Thankyou for your help

Hi Sangita

When you apply for UC you are sent an appointment to see a work coach to sign a claimant commitment and to prove your ID if you have not been able to do this on line.

Until your ID has been proved and you have signed a claimant commitment, your claim will not go live and will be suspended.

We advise you to seek help from your local welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk
