ESA UC migration Council Tax was created by A-nobody
Please forgive me if this has been asked before .I am so tired and in pain and can’t go searching for answers .
We have just been migrated from Income related ESA to Universal Credit . We will get our first payment on July 6 apparently. It has all been very straight forward so far i must say. They picked up that am in the Support Group and allowed me to I.D over the phone. The agent was very nice .
**Anyway , now what happens about Council Tax ? I think we were getting full rebate on ESA . Will we continue to get that on UC ?
I get Enhanced PIP both elements
My wife is still working up to 30 odd hours a week
No children or dependents
Thanks in advance

Hi A-nobody

Some Councils are using UC Migration as an excuse for raising Council Tax on Benefits claimants. This varies from Council to Council. You could try using a Benefits Calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk to generate a Council Tax figure.
You will need to inform the Council of the move to UC when you get your first UC payment.
I know of one Council that is forcing people to apply for Council Tax assistance from scratch after Migration including providing ID. I think they are making life difficult in the hope that some people won't bother to claim at all.
