My partner and I were transferred from ESA to UC in February. Since then we received our first monthly payment and part of our second as well as two new style ESA payments. My ADP and a back payment of £1235.05 for my partners ADP. This has now meant we have over £6000 combined in our accounts. I didn't realise until I had paid off a washing machine we'd bought this year and was looking at the accounts. How do I go about reporting this and does the ADP back payment count for him towards the £6000 or is it disregarded? I'm really confused about how it all works.
Usually it states in the backdating award letter how long it should be disregarded for. I am not familiar with the Scottish ADP but I think the ESA regs state that it should be disregarded for 12 months. So if your total in savings and investments are under £7000 you are currently under the threshold and don't need to inform the DWP.
