Hi I have received my migration letter & have until the end of May to move over . I am on Contributory Esa with a top up of income related Esa. I have recently found out that i will have to sign a commitment for Uc & that my old style contributory will be replaced with New stlye contribution based & i will have to sign a commitment for that to . Their is no way i will be able to go into the nearest job centre to do that because of my mental & physically not up to it . i am full of fear , dread & panic of the thought of it ,i would find it impossible & physically i will be on the bed for a day or 2 afterwards due to the discomfort it will cause if i was made to. My housing authority benefit team are doing an home assessment with me soon ,they are going to help me move over , they do think it should be done by phone with the dwp when i move over . Can i ask for both comittment's to be done by phone or home visit . I don't even understand why i have to do a commitment for contributory support group when i have been on it from day 1 when it 1st started ?
You no longer have to physically sign anything. You can accept your UC commitment on your smart phone digitally. You can agree the New Style ESA commitment in a phone call. You can ask for a Home Visit but evidently in some areas there is a wait.
