Appointee ESA migration was created by lollo1
Hi, I have 2 adult children. Both get full pip, higher rate for care and mobility on ongoing 10 year awards. One lives at home the other in social housing. They both get ESA income related and are in the support group. I have read through the members guides and am a bit overwhelmed at the thought of them both migrating, but am confident with the guides on here about filling in the forms online when they need to migrate. I am an appointee for both but can I set up an online account for them both using my email address as the appointee for them both when it comes to migration. Also do you have to just scan ID and other information/paperwork to be uploaded to the application. Lastly our son gets housing benefit so struggling to understand what info do I need exactly for that and will they pay his social landlord directly as he can’t manage his finances well. I am aware I need to put and quote the regulation about transferring from support group and that they do not need to commit to any work/claimant agreement, is this correct.

Hi lollo1

As both your son's are in the support group, when they migrate to UC they should be placed in the LCWRA group without you having to provide a fit note.

When you apply for UC, HB will stop, but he should get a two week run on, your son will be eligible to claim the housing element of UC.

If you son is classed as Tier 1, then you can request direct payments to his social landlord.

Thank Gary for the quick reply but as an appointee can I set up two separate accounts for them using my email address. I have issues with motabilty online because I am appointee to them both and just wondered if using the same email address would be an issue.

Hi lollo1

I am not sure about email address, usually there is an issue with phone numbers. I would contact UC helpline (0800 328 5644) and ask the question about emails, I would also ask about using one mobile number for both your sons.

Let us know what you find out.
