PIP Review - Impossible Situation - Can Delay Be Granted

More

I got the text saying the form is in the post.

Can't locate my old paperwork to remind me of date, can only assume will be 30 days for me to reply (minus the days the form has been in the post).

But this time it's seeming impossible to properly fill the form and get relevant evidence in time.

If I got a supporting letter from GP, Social Worker, or Mental Health Team, would DWP allow a delay?

If this is possible, is there any special form like the Fit Notes they use, or just a letter from a professional explaining why?

Hi AVMSurvivor

When the form arrives - you will probably find it has already eaten into your 30 days. As soon as you receive the form, ring the DWP and ask for a two-week extension. This will be granted automatically - you don't even have to give a reason - other than it arrived late in the post.

Now, if you need more than a two-week extension, you can ask for it, but they may say two weeks is all they can give. Don't panic.

Leave it a few days - and then ring again and say you can't meet the deadline - what can you do. Some people have been offered a second extension - some people have been told to return the form late. Whatever you are told, you immediately write a letter to the DWP confirming the conversation.

If you are told you have to meet the deadline - send off the form on time with a covering letter saying that you will be sending additional letters/reports from x number of professionals (Name them in your letter)

Please try not to let it worry you. You can do this.
