Rang Capita today to find out if they had an assessment date for me. Was very surprised to hear they have done a paper based assessment, told me "the report is almost finished, its just got to go through quality checks"
3 Questions
1) does that mean that i am less likely to get a 'clarification' type call from the assessor? now its going through 'quality checks', does that means its basically finished but the mgr has to check it or something? Am worried because i cant speak to them if i'm on my own, i dont answer numbers i dont know.
2) As i understand it a paper assessment either means they think phone assessment too distressing for me - which i doubt would apply as I made no mention of it in my form. OR they think my condition has no impact, OR it has significant impact. - so a given phone assessments terrify me, paper assessment seems like either very good, or very bad, news.
I been on DLA since 2004, then when transferred was given enhanced mob & standard care in 2019 for 3yrs (extended due to covid). Nothing has changed since 2004 & for the review I sent current evidence from neurologist, GP & CPN, all saying nothing has changed, & the letters/reports also speak directly to the descriptors. I know you cant guarantee anything, but how likely is it that they will suddenly have done a U-turn at review & decided that my condition has 'no impact'?
3) presumably i need to keep ringing Capita to find out when they have sent report to DWP, & then ring DWP & ask for a copy of the assessors report - just as i did with my original claim - so i can get prepared in case i need to do an MR?
Its really freaked me out i was expecting to get a date for a phone assessment & not needing to have one feels a bit too good to be true!

I can't tell you why you have been given a paper-based assessment. We have heard from quite a few people who have had them recently, and we think it is down to them being short of assessors and having a backlog of cases. No one knows the exact reason unless you ask. It could be any of the reasons that you have stated.
You can ask for the assessment report - it will be a PA5 (paper-based) - but be aware that many people are being told that there is no paper report on record.
I can't say whether you will get a clarification call - you will only know that when it is back with the DWP.
