Hi, firstly, I would like to thank you for all the hardwork and help that you provide to people like me, on a daily basis, to help us to overcome our fears, worries and setbacks that we encounter, you are doing a great job, well done!!.

I have been on Esa support group now since 2004 however, the last letter I received stated that it was until March 2015, so obviously been expecting the new form to come, however, on Saturday I got a letter stating changes in the benefit amount, the usual letter that comes with increase of benefit, breaking down what i am being paid, and if I think this decision is wrong to contact them, it is 3 pages so, does that mean then that I am going to continue without having to fill a new ESA 50 form, or is it just a standard form they have sent out and it will be arriving shortly.

Any advice please thank you.

ESA is an indefinite award with frequent re-assessment, so your ESA will continue in payment until a new Decision is made on your claim.

The letter you have received appears to the annual letter notifying claimants of how their ESA payments will change in April when the new rates are applied.

There are considerable delays in the ESA system at the moment and it is possible that your re-assessment has been delayed as a result, I am afraid that the only way you will know is to phone the DWP and ask when you will be re-assessed, doing so will not trigger a re-assessment.

Hi, im sorry I was also going to ask if I do NOT notify the ESA to tell them of change of circumstances as my health has got worse with other problems as I do not want to trigger a re-assesment, but I know that Im in the post code area for the PIP and I am waiting for a form from them of which I know I will have to inform them that I have a change of circumstances, will the PIP section contact the ESA people to give a result for the PIP, I am currently getting high rate care qnd standard rate mobility, or should i just tell the ESA i have a coc also.

Thank you for any advice.

Whilst there are similarities in some areas between the Descriptors for PIP and ESA, in the rest they are very different and neither, certainly for care, bears any resemblance to the DLA criteria, it is therefore possible for a claimant to have a Change of Circumstances for DLA (leading to a PIP claim) and not one for ESA. Also, as you are already in the Support Group for ESA a deterioration cannot affect your current award, even if the PIP unit to tell the ESA one.
