ESA DWP Letter was created by apples6
Dear B&W
Why is that when ones receives a DWP after sending in completed ESA50
and then has a decision without f2f
that the letter is vage and wordy
however does not tell the date/nor how long one is awarded
the ESA for eg 1 year only mentions which group only in passing#
and also can one be awarded for say 1 or 2 years and then get a surprise etter with new form ESA50 at any old time?

Thanks I am trying to see if it is general policy DWP so one is 'anxious' along with own illlnesss
thank you apples6

The vast majority of DWP letters are standard, produced from a computer with minimum input from the advisor requesting it, as a result they often do not fit the exact circumstances of the claimant, are often missing information, or supplying info that does not apply. They are also designed to meet a specific minimum legal requirement which often adds to the confusion.

The reason that ESA letters do not include an award length is because ESA is an indefinite award, but one that is punctuated by regular re-assessment.

The time limiting of ESA(CB) to 365 days for members of the WRAG is a separate issue and we often hear of claimants in this situation who have been told they have two years between assessments, but will have their payment stopped after a year.

If you contact the DWP they should be able to tell you your re-assessment date, failing that request the ESA85(A), the prognosis is usually used to set the date.
