Descriptors & lenth of awards?? Pls help.. was created by leapoffaith
Hi All..
Finally after 2 devastating years of limbo & a 6 month wait following my 1st ESA50 ('transfer' from IB) I have been placed in the Support Group in the last week.. I am pricelessly thankful that my disabilities have been acknowledged this first time.. However it just states the group with no length of time or review date.. I have been advised to accept this & not to ask how long in case it brings me to their attention, jeopardises or brings a review date forward.. I tend to agree but part of me feels I might stay severely anxious without knowing..
Also because this is the first one i would like to know what descriptors they applied because i meet quite a few.. Part of my relapse is going over trauma.. I can explain 90% of my disabilities but some has been horrid & if it didn't count I would hope not to mention it another time..
I have seen advice, that I can't remember, here of what to ask for.. Do you think it is important for me to ask about my review date or to request the reports or keep quiet? Also what would I ask for & how please?
These letters are very different.. Definitely not less complicated.. It tells me I must contact HMRC if I receive Tax Credits but I don't think I do.. I was long term IB , now ESA + High care DLA & low care mobility.. I have national insurance contributions credited but don't know if they are the same as tax credits.. Hope you can enlighten me & sorry my post is quite long.. I mainly need to know if i should request evidence of the results of my first ESA to protect me in future.. thank goodness I have not needed a face to face this time...
Very best wishes.. Faithleap

Requesting your re-assessment date and the documentation used in the Decision will not result in your claim being re-assessed.

You can phone or write to the DWP office that normally deals with your claim, they should be able to tell you when you will be assessed, failing that, request the documents used in the Decision, the prognosis in the ESA85(A) is usually used to set the date.

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

Thankyou Gordon..

I think my adviser may have been suggesting I may not have a review date & asking for one might force the issue? Are you saying in your opinion/experience to simply request the esa85a would not go against me at all?...

Everyone has a re-assessment date.

Requesting any of the documents used in the making of the Decision will not result in a new assessment or the existing re-assessment date being changed.

ESA is technically an open-ended award that can be reassessed at any stage once 3 months has passed since the decision was made. In practice, a recall date will have been entered on the computer along with the decision.

The people who answer the DWP phones are entirely separate from the Decision Makers, no request for information will lead to an early reassessment :)

Thankyou very much.. One last question.. Where will my 85a be? Will it now be with the office who deals with my claim? I really appreciate your help.. It makes a great difference not to be totally alone with questions.. Very best wishes.. FD :)
