ESA WRAG - Pension Credit

My partner has been placed in ESA wrag after a very fast decision (5 weeks) with no medical. She has suffered from mental illness for 30 years and we are appealing the decision. I am on state pension with housing benefit and I am wondering if it is still possible to give up the ESA claim and claim pension credit. She is 8 years away from her retirement age and was on iIB for several years. I did read somewhere that they are going to stop pension credit for working age partners. Owing to her mental health I feel she will be sanctioned for non attendance of work focussed interviews and I am trying to find a way to help her.

The changes you are referring to are linked to the Universal Credit so they should not apply to you, but I would recommend that you get face to face advice before proceeding so that you understand all of the implications.
Where to get advice?
As an aside, if you have not done so already you should contact your Local Authority about your wife's recent ESA award.
