DLA renewal help...? was created by sophi
Hi

so I am answering the question about falls and stumbles. I have non epilpetic epilepsy. My question is difficult i think.. not sure.

It asks the last time I fell or stumbled, does that mean the last time I had a fit, or the last time I injured myself? I dont want to make this sound better than it is, as i still experiene this at least once a week, its just i dont often fall because i have someone with me. if i answer that i either dont remember or that its been a long time it will make the think im somehow lying about the severity..

hope this makes sense

It is the last time you fell or stumbled, if you only fall or stumble when you have a fit then it would be the last time you had a fit, you do not have to have injured yourself when you fell or stumbled, but if you have injured yourself then you should also include this information in your answer.

its been a while. im considering leaving this question blank because its misleading. the only reason i havent fell when having a fit is because i have someone to support me. kinda pointless filling it in really

The form is looking to understand what your care needs are, you do not need to actually be receiving that care to qualify.

So the fact that you had someone to support you is relevant to the question, providing you are at danger of having a fit on a regular basis, if they only occur infrequently, then you may not qualify on this question, but it still counts towards your overall level of care.

Don't forget that the DLA forms are trying to cover every eventuality and every condition. It is likely that not every question will be relevant to every claimant. people fall and stumble for many reasons, many of which will not apply to you :)
