New PIP claim help please.

New PIP claim help please. was created by DollyDayDream
Hi
I have been reading the forum for some time now and think its time to put in a claim for my wife for PIP she gets ESA support group which was awarded in july after being in wrag for 18 months.
Her condition is getting worse well no better she suffers from depression and anxiety as well as a bad back which get's her so down then the amount of medication she has to take is crazy. The side effects make her not want to get out of bed on most days.
I have been through the PIP descriptors and i can see where points should be awarded but thats not my decision.
The things that are confusing is the wording such as prompting now to me that means reminding or telling somebody to do something such as take nutrition or medication which is the case with my wife she has her pills setout in pill dispensers i fill them everyday, she also has alarms set on her phone to remind her as she sleeps so much she forgets. Is this correct?
As for food she only eats if i'm eating never gets food for herself even if i leave sandwiches in the fridge they will still be there when i get back, she cannot use the cooker as she will wander away and forget its on. Do you thing the taking nutrition one would be Needs prompting to be able to take nutrition or supervision to be able to take nutrition?
The other one is Engaging with other people face to face. My wife will walk away from people who she knows as she does not like engaging in conversation as they always asks how she is and that gets her upset so what do you think would be the descriptor for that condition?
I completed your self assessment and scored 17 points
I think they make these so hard to try and discourage people from applying.

How is ‘prompting’ defined for personal independence payment (PIP)?
How is ‘supervision’ defined for personal independence payment (PIP)?
What does ‘engage socially’ mean in relation to personal independence payment (PIP)?
So from what you have posted "prompting" would seem more appropriate the "supervision".
So far only one of our members has had a result for a PIP claim which was successful, there appear to be considerable delays in the process, primarily in the production and delivery of medical reports by ATOS and Capita, so at this time we have no real feeling for how the benefit is being administered.

Only one person on here to get awarded PIP wow thats not good !!
It seems too easy for me to add up points i can't see how my wife scores on 7 out of the 10 descriptors. I'm not trying to over exaggerate her conditions but..........
Does anyone thing it will be easier to get pip as she is already in support esa? As some of the descriptors mean the same things?

We watch a variety of forums including those used by professional advisors and they are only reporting a handful of results since new claims for PIP started in June.
There are some overlaps between the PIP Descriptors and the ESA ones, particularly the Mobility ones, but there are also fundamental differences in many of the other ones, I can certainly see claimants receiving ESA SG and no PIP and vice versa.

If a claim is successful does the claim backdate to the time you first called and ased for the form or from the date you are successful?
As Atos seem to be the hold up in sorting the claims out !!

When the form is requested, the DWP log the date, it may be included on the form itself, it was for DLA, there is also a return date which should have been included in the covering letter, providing the form is returned before the return date, then the claim should be awarded from the date the form was requested, if it is late then the claim will be closed unless you can show Good Cause for the delay.
