Still waiting for DlA decision

Anyway, I have been trying to identify where my condition is covered in the guides and I know it may come under specific back pain as I have. Lumbar schwannoma ( benign tumour) on the nerve root which cannot be removed yet due to significant risk. My mobility is seriously restricted and I have been referred to pain clinic.
I know each case is unique, but how do people with long term back problems fair in claiming DLA, in general.
Thanks for listening

We have similar symptoms then. I also have constant tumour pain and much worse when lying down. Your response gives me hope of having a positive dla outcome

Well....... A decision was made on Monday to award me HRM and HRC. I am so pleased as it is a weight off my mind. I was so shocked at getting a decision I forgot all the good advice from B and W and didn't ask for prognosis! I have applied for Ill health retirement ( NHS deferred benefits), Should I let them know my DLA award, will it help?
Seriously, I cannot thank you enough on this site for all the support and advice, it is great. A speciall thanks to the mods ( visions of mini skirts and lambretta's), who give such great advice.
Thank you so much x

Hi L,
That is fantastic news !!!

Thanks for letting us know, and for the kind comments.
DLA does not come with a prognosis, as with ESA.
It will either be a fixed term award, e.g. 2 , 3, 4, 5, years, etc, etc, or an indefinite award. (although DWP do state that all existing DLA recipients will be invited to claim PIP by March 2018.)
You could ring back and ask how long the award is for, or wait for the Decision Notice letter where it will have it in black and white.
DLA is actually an "In-Work" benefit, so I don't know whether it would help with your ill health retirement, but I can't see it doing any harm to include a copy of the DLA award letter.
