Dear all,

firstly a massive thank you for all of your help in the forum and in members sections.

I am writing a follow up.
Recently I got the dreaded form, and went through the ordeal of filling it in with help and with evidence.

The DWP's response was I am being moved from IB/IS to ESA support group which is great, and a huge relief, especially as I don't need to go through atos appt at this time now.

But I am a bit annoyed as it only going to be for 6 months. I was expecting at least a year or 2. I'm long term DLA too and my main illness is phyiscal which severely affects me day to day etc and will never get better and they know all this so why are they being so incredibly mean by only "awarding" me 6 months?
I know of others in the area where I live who have also only been given 6 months award.

Is this a regional decision by DWP officers to say right, lets give em all 6 months, while in other parts of the country is it longer than 6 months.

Guess I'll never know but I do wish to comprehend this sick joke they are playing on me, because it now means in about 3 months time from now they'll be about to post me the next ESA form and that means xmas is going to be hell. Like a slap in the face and a punishment for having the cheek to claim, I feel torn but will not appeal at the moment because I'd rather keep what I need for 6 months than be put through any further stress with risks of being cut off.

Just wondering why only 6 months.
snot fair
but I am grateful, it just feels like I'm being portrayed as a beggar who has to say thank you a million times because someone gave him tuppence, know wot I mean?

comments all welcome

cheers and good luck to you all too

First, congratulations on the award.

You say it is only for six months, the Decision Notice does not normally state the period between re-assessments!

Does your letter give a date in November, if so then it is far more likely that this is a standard letter notifying you of your changed payments, the November date relates to DWP administrative processes, and is the same for everyone.

If you want to know when you will be re-assessed then you should request a copy of your ESA85A medical report from the DWP, the prognosis is used to set the date when a claimant will be re-assessed.

Gordon,

thank you so much for explaining that.

Yes, on page 4 of the letter the page with all the amounts that have been worked out, at the bottom it says the amounts on this page apply up to 27 November 2013. I didn't know it was standard admin type stuff, thanks.

the thought of contacting DWP makes me feel sick. I can't do that. Instead I'll get in touch with the w-rights and hopefully they will sort out whats what. I will be back in touch here.

I would also like to commend you all on being here and for the past few years helping me and thousands of others like me too. Without your help I know I would be crushed emotionally. Your members links have been a godsend to me back then and this year too. keep up the work you all do so well and I hope every poster here keeps hold of a streak of strength inside - nobody can ever change who we are...

You can make the request in writing, in fact we recommend that claimants do this even if they originally phoned.

Thank you for your comments.
