Hi
I got letter this morning from jobcentre telling me that i was now getting ESA and not IB from August and that i was also put into the WRAG (cb/ir) with no info on how the decision was made,it just sees like a standard issue of a information letter from jobcentre regarding benefits change, also no phone call to let me know of the decision that had been made,
I am in Glasgow so maybe things might be done slightly different here,WCA was sent in April,no contact with GP and have'nt been sent for medical. Is this the norm?

Hi CJ,

When you say you sent your WCA in April, I gather that you mean your ESA50 Questionnaire.

Many claimants are put into the WRAG of ESA without the need for a face to face assessment ("Medical")

If you wish to find out more information about how you qualified for the WRAG you should make a request for your ESA85A Medical Report, this should also tell you how long your award is for, see :

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

&

ESA Forms

You also need to know whether you are only going to be in receipt of Contributary ESA in the WRAG, as if this is the case, you can only receive this for 365 days, there is no such time limit for Income Related ESA in the WRAG, or if you are in the Support Group of ESA.

It may enlighten you further if you read :

How often will I be reviewed

Qualifying for the WRAG

Welfare Reform Act 2012 Updated 10/03/12

Work Focussed Interviews

If you feel that you should be in the Support group of ESA, you have 1 month from the date of your award letter to appeal, see :

Qualifying for the Support Group

How to submit an appeal
