Medical Evidence was created by Concerned
Hi - my first post on here. Trying to get medical evidence to support my wife's appeal for DLA care and mobility, it appears that her GP won't help. I'm startled by this. Should I complain to the Health Authority/ local MP about this or is there anywhere else to go to get independent medical evidence? I'm willing to pay.

You can request an independent medical report through a solicitor, to evaluate your wife's care and mobility needs for DLA purposes.

If you are on a sufficiently low income, you may be entitled to legal help to obtain a medical report. A solicitor will advise you if this assistance is available for you/your wife?

Insofar as your complaint about your wife's GP is concerned, we cannot advise you how to proceed in these circumstances, but if you do decide to use a solicitor he/she may be able to help you with any prospective complaint against your wife's doctor?

Have you asked the GP why they wont help ?

Ask and see what they say ... also if you can buy a copy of your records and see whats in them, if they support your claim you could then just send copies of your copies with a DLA claim

There is a set system for complaining starting with the practice manager and senior dr at the practice, you need to work up through the food chain and when you start by talking with the practice manage they will give you information on how the system works, they are use to complaints, but if it turns out you have a serious problem with the practice and you dont use the system you undermine your own case.

Thank you for informing the OP of the standard procedure for making a complaint about the GP.

Hi, I had a similar problem with regard to my gp who is a fence sitter. But got round this by getting copies of all correspondence and test results from my Consultant at the hospital. If you are still under treatment all copies of correspondence etc are free, if however you are no longer having treatment then you will have to pay. I found this gave me the medical evidence I needed. Hope that helps.
