Work related group was created by Fleur33
Sorry to post again. I am confused about ESA. and the the work related group. As I am not well enough to work is there some other benefit to replace SDA apart from ESA I could claim? Or is that why you need to claim 15 points as to not be placed in the work group?
Thanks
Amber

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The only direct replacement for SDA will be ESA, however, you may also be eligible for DLA, which is a benefit to help people cope with their disablements. You could have a quick read of the DLA guides in the Members area to see if you would qualify.
There are three possible results from an ESA medical; you are found fit for work, you score 15 or more points and are placed in the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG), or you meet one or more of the criteria and are placed in the Support Group.
Whilst the WRAG is supposed to prepare you for work, you are not required to seek work, you just need to attend six Work Focused Interviews.
So being placed in the Work Group is not a bad thing and not something you should worry about

SDA stands for Severe Disablement Allowance.
You can no longer make a claim for it (2001), but many people are still entitled to it, a bit like IB.
It is often confused with Severe Disability Premium which is still available.
