High rate mobility/care for DLA? was created by Korky
Can I get high rate care/mobility for a slipped disc in my back chronic pain, but mostly severe pain. Grade 3 osteoarthritis in my right ankle in medial and especially lateral gutter, chronic pain but mostly severe pain and a quites unstable subtalar joint also in my right ankle?

I have applied for DLA but am awaiting a reply and wondered if anyone out there has the same problems as me and been awarded anything or nothing.

its not just whats wrong its how it affects you. some people with a slipped disc could still dig the garden others have great trouble walking and dressing and need help

if you have great trouble walking you might get mobility, not too sure if you would get higher rate care.. ? middle rate would be needing a lot of help durring the day more than just a meal but do you think you need a lot of help at night ie two periods of help each time being over 20 mins ?

thats just my point of view based on what you posted :)

I agree with Dave, I was first awarded DLA in 2003 before I had any diagnosis. I was awarded HRM and HRC indefinitely in June 2008, but was only diagnosed in Nov the same year. Therefore I had three awards before any diagnosis, based on info provided and a medical (for the initial application).

You have to be very thorough with your application, highlighting all the problems you have with 'toiletting' etc.

Good Luck!

I do need my mum to get me out of bed, give me a wash, get me dressed, go with me to the toilet both in the day and at night, help me change position in bed, get the quilt off the floor for me at night, cook me a meal, get me in and out of a chair, get me into and out of a bath, dry and dress me to go out or dried and into my pyjamas at night. Fetch me food and drink from the kitchen and bring them to me. This is just a little part of the help I need if I told all the help I needed I would probably bore you all. All of these points are to do with both my slipped disc in my back and right ankle problems.

I'm sure most people know this, but you don't have to actually RECEIVE any physical help with care etc, just indicating that you NEED it is sufficient.

Hi Libra45 I thought you did need the physocal help, I put all this on my form and more besides but just one more thing for you or anyone to answer. I thought you did need to have the physical help or you wouldn't get anything at all. Some people would say if you didn't get the physical help you could do it on your own, and not get anything at all for your care needs. Because your pains or problems aren't severe enough.

Also anyone out their can you explain how to put the smiley's onto posts in plain english as I am new to this site and don't know how to put them on.
