Thanks

Just contacted my local DIAL office, so waiting to hear something from them now. They usually make an appointment for me to go and see them and they have helped me before.

Hello

Here to ask for some help and advice again.

I know I qualify for the support group due to continence issues, there is a supporting letter in the documents from my GP confirming this.

How much information did the GP letter give ?

I ask because I saw a letter/form that someone had from the continence nurse

GP says you have the problem but the standard letter/form from the nurse goes into much detail says the type and how often some have bristol data details says how and with whats its being treated ie drugs pads ect and then it lists other info given to you to help with the problem ie booklets ect ect some have lists of tests carried out

in this case gp not as good as nurse, and if its bladder not bowel I think if its caused by a certain cause they dont look at it the same, it slips my mind as to what but there is one type that does not carry the same weight

Pusscat.

Am not sure if JCP would do a second reconsideration, but wonder if with the support of Dial, it is worth challenging them on the incontinence issue if you feel you meet support group conditions.

Otherwise you will have to wait for your appeal to be heard.

Best wishes

Hello

The letter says:

Quote

"She has unfortunately lost full control of her bowels as a complication of her illness and has to be close to a lavatory due to the extreme urgency of her condition"

They are disputing that I do not use incontinence pads and sometimes go out so I do not qualify.

Not using pads is my own personal choice, as I do not really go out enough. And am usually at home when the worst happens.

That's the best info I can give.

I made a call :) to a man that knows..... urgency means you have to rush there and what they can't tell from that is if you make it or not .. what they are looking for is total loss of control

if you dont make it how often dont you make it ?

has pads been offered ?

thats the missing info

if you dont make it as per the regs which is something like below but I think is changing soon

Has no voluntary control of the evacuation of the bowel
10 (a) (ii) Has no voluntary control of the voiding of the bladder. 15
10 (a) (iii) At least once a month loses control of bowels so that the claimant cannot control the full evacuation of the bowel. 15
10 (a) (iv) At least once a week, loses control of bladder so that the claimant cannot control the full voiding of the bladder. 15

Hello

This usually happens more than once a week along with vomiting at the same time (although I know that's not included). For some reason I only ticked the sometimes box on the questionnaire, but there's a lot to fill in and my brain may have switched off by then.

I did however give details of the condition in the white box and more specifically on my appeal letter.

I do not use pads, but that is my choice, and I have never been offered them, but as I do not go out very often due to my vision problems I can sort myself out at home. It would cause a great deal of embarrassment if I soiled myself in a working environment as there would be nowhere for me to clean myself up and change my clothes which I would want to do if I wore pads or not. As there would still be a nasty spell if I had to sit in soiled ones for the rest of the day.

I hope this helps explain things better?
