work focussed interview was created by edith
I am currrently on long term incapacity benefit, and am not required to submit medical certificates because of my illness. However I have recently been asked to attend a work capability interview. Do I have to attend as I have not yet been assessed for ESA?

People on IB can be required to attend WFIs but can ask for them to be waived or deferred. (Once you transfer to ESA, you will only be able to get them deferred, not waived.)

If I ask for it to be deferred do they have to agree to this request or is it better for me just to attend?

[incorrect information deleted]
Only you can decide whether to attend. If you do attend, you have to participate fully in the interview, but you do not have to do anything afterwards that was agreed in the interview.
