Caring for daughter at home was created by Spike
My wife and I are both retired and our daughter receives DLA and SDA as she has had M.E. for 20 years. Until recently she has been managing with help to live alone in her own flat ( with housing benefit). She now lives with us so that we can care for her.

Our question is: Are there any benefits we should be claiming to help with additional food, water and heating?

Does anyone have experience of this? We both have work pensions so do not qualify for any benefits ourselves.

Hi Spike,

It's impossible for us to give individual advice as is explained in FAQ

As you say you both have works pensions, I'm not sure if you'd qualify for Carers Allowance it depends on income and whether or nor your daughter receives DLA HRC or MRC.

The best way to find out if there are benefits which could be claimed is to contact the Benefits Enquiry Line on 0800 882200.

They do not hold any case papers on the benefits your daughter currently receives, but can provide information on any additional benefits that could be paid to your daughter or yourselves.

Hope this helps.

Pat
