I have had 4 cold weather payments so far which at first seemed quite generous to me but my rubbish storage heaters and tumble drier are working their way through it quite nicely!

If you win your appeal, ask for your back dated cold weather payments.

Hi all

It makes me so angry that the members in the assessment phase do not receive cold weather payments  !! Its hard enough financially when you are placed into the relevant ESA group, but to have to survive on £64 a week and not get CWP is so wrong. I feel guilty getting this as i am in the support group when others are struggling. For everyone who is appealing their decision i would make every effort to claim CWP while you were waiting for your appeal to go through. They will backdate any ESA due but you can bet they will omit to include any CWP that is rightfully yours.

To date i have had 6 CWP so have paid all of this money to my gas account so it is not swallowed up with other bills. DWP have definately changed the way they pay CWP as last year i was on assessment rate but for some reason received CWP. Despite keeping warm i still developed pneumonia so this year i am trying to keep my heating on low all the time, i also put on extra layers when i am not mobile. What a sad and sick world we live in, this payment should be paid to all claiments on any sickness benefit including DLA, we are all vulnerable and should be treated fairly.

Right i will get off my soap box as i am getting extremly angry with it all.

Love to all
Mm

Hi Mm, you are lovely! And don't feel guilty about what you get!

If I win my appeal, I shall try and claim the 3 CWP's that I would have got as I'm sure the gas bill will be a lot higher than previous years.

I think it is a good job that ESA assessment rate is equal to JSA or they would be asking for the difference back if you lost your appeal.

I assume that is exactly why they keep it the same.

I hope you are well,

Best wishes,
Rachel :)
