ESA50 Question was created by C&L
Hi All
I'm in the process of filling in the ESA50 form part 2. I suffer from depression.
I am a single person living alone with no outside help.
I'm using the guide from this website and I've got as far as question 16. This question is confusing me. Descriptor 16 (a) seem to apply to my circumstances but the I'm not sure if I should answer the question or not because the question asks about help I receive from others, but I don't get any help from anyone.
Should I attempt to answer or move on to question 17? Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

According to descriptor 16(a), this does not mention the help you need from others:-
Cannot, due to cognitive impairment or a severe disorder of mood or behaviour, initiate or sustain any personal action (which means planning, organisation, problem solving, prioritising or switching tasks).
Although the rest of the descriptors refer to help received from others by means of prompting etc, as it is not applicable to 16(a), if this applies to your personal circumstances and you feel it is appropriate, it may very well be relevant. You could simply refer to the fact that struggle to initiate personal action, due to the lack of any help and support because of your illness.
