incapability

Hi,

I am writing regarding DLA forms and filling them in correctly.

If you wish to claim for the care component of DLA and you are in dire need of help during the day and night.

How can the person claiming have any chance of filling form in if they are incapable of doing anything for themselves in a normal way.

Reading some advice on this site it sounds like it is better to fill form in yourself than let anyone else do this for you.

Also do you think it is wise to write down exactly what claimant is like and what they do each day and pass this to GP.

You might be better off getting help with the filling the forms in. You may want to go through the forms and guides and make bullet points about help you need.

Someone might need lots of help and be awarded DLA but they might not get the help they need and have to manage I think ? the DLA form points this out.

You of course could make this point when you fill in the form on the any more info page.

As for telling your doctor everything, if someones that ill they need help day and night, you would hope the doctor has detailed records ??? but many wont have so the odd visit to your doctor to keep him up to speed on any new problems you have is a good idea

if you give detailed information to the DLA department do an extra copy of the anymore information pages and give it to your doctor with a covering letter then the admin department will scan it and add it to your medical records

The one good thing about letting the NHS put all records on computers (yes they will lose some and give some to the wrong people) is that all mail to doctors will just be scanned and it comes up on his screen when you visit
