Advice needed on what to do when no information is supplied on rejection letter was created by mjj@@
Hi sorry don’t ever do anything like this so hope I am going about asking in the right way.Received a letter from PIP folks saying “we have decided you are not entitled to PIP payment. This is because you have not provided the additional information we asked for”.
That is all they say with regards to why. I have no idea what additional information I may not have given them and don’t have a copy of my online application. They say I have to ask them to look at their decision again before appealing and also to give them the extra informatin. I have no idea how to give them the additional info without knowing what it is in the first place.
The letter was dated the 10th June but I only received it on the 15th June and I have a one month deadline.
Any ideas what I do next?
Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi mjj@@
I think you need to phone the PIP telephony team and query with them what actually is PIP asking for in the way of " additional information ".
Let us know how you get on.

Hi David
Thanks for your reply. I called the PIP folk today and couldn’t believe it when my call was answered in just 5 minutes! However that is where the good news stops. The man I spoke to seemed to have even less idea about PIP than I do.He left big gaps inbetween speaking, didn’t answer my questions but just fell silent and then robotically just went back to “so do you want to have it reviewed then”.It was all very strange and confusing. He went to hang up several times as if we were finished and then launched into asking me to confirm yes or no to do I stand by what I had written under each section on the application form. I asked him 3 times what the additional information was that I had missed to which he didn’t reply.I asked him did he get the 13 attachments which included things like consultant letters confirming diagnosis and repeat presciption details to which he confirmed he could see them.I asked if was not enough then to which he just replied no. It was like trying to get blood out of a stone.Upshot is they are going to look at it again and may wait for me to submit further information (he thought they probably would wait until they received any additional info. but couldn’t guarantee it).As I say it was all very confusing and I don’t feel an awful lot wiser for my half hour talk with him. I just think it seems my “supporting evidence” was not enough but not sure what to actually add so if you can offer any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mjj@@
It's not clear from your post whether your rejection was after a paper-based decision or whether you had a telephone assessment? If you had a telephone assessment - then you need to ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the PA4 - which will give you more information about how they came to their decision.
if you have just had a letter rejecting your claim then you will struggle (as you have discovered) to find out why.
Now, you have had it confirmed that your consultant letters and repeat prescription details were on the system, but it doesn't sound as if he confirmed that anyone had actually looked at them. I am talking from experience here - because they told one of my family members that he hadn't sent in information and when I queried it - they confirmed it was on the system but no one had actually read any of it - and that was because the form and evidence don't always get scanned at the same time. Not saying that has happened to you, but knowing it's there is not enough - you actually want to know if the pages have been looked at, and they can tell you whether they have or not. Examples of supporting evidence are obviously consultant letters which you have submitted. Other examples of supporting evidence can be a letter from a family member or carer confirming what difficulties they have observed; a care plan, or pages from a diary kept by the claimant. Less obvious supporting evidence is what you wrote on your form. Did you use our guide to complete the form?
I'm a little concerned that they are looking at it again without you understanding what more you could possibly submit (but that is the DWP for you!) I would ring the DWP again because you won't have the same person, and see if you can get someone who will be more helpful, and if they cannot answer your questions, ask for a call back from a case manager to explain what it is that is missing.
