Hi BIS, once again, thank you so much for your reply!
I've had a quick look through the appeal guides, and certainly there are a number of things I could contest as she missed out so much of what I told her, and then just completely made up other things
So I think I'm feeling a little better about the whole situation now at least!
I get so frustrated that it's so difficult to navigate the systems supposedly meant to help us, and everyone has such problems.
I just want to be able to get on with my life without having to constantly think about how hard some things are constantly. I'm not naturally the kind of person who spends time dwelling on such things, but having it brought to the forefront of my mind and then having the assessor pretty much try to gaslight me is really getting to me.
I just wish that everything didn't have to be such a fight all the time.
I really appreciate all the advice and kind words 🩷

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Katiee
You are not alone in the way this makes you feel. We have many members who have held senior positions in their professional lives, including in social services, yet despite all their knowledge and experience, the PIP process has brought them to their knees when they've faced poorly produced reports in what is often an unfair and discriminatory process.
I, too, wish it weren't a fight. It's bad enough when your condition and circumstances rob you of so much energy, but hang in there and just continue to tackle a bit at a time.

It gets even better.
I'm pre-empting a refusal and having to do a mandatory reconsideration, so I contacted CAB to make an appointment for them to hell as they helped me to fill in my original application (it took 6 weeks to get that appointment).
They refused to make an appointment, telling me that I can read information on their website and download a form to fill in to request MR!
I was gob smacked! They were so rude, and now I'm back to feeling like it's totally pointless again, I am thinking 'whats the point' but also that I don't want to give up.
My thinking was if I get a good enough MR, maybe, just maybe, it won't need to go to tribunal again.
I've found the appeals information here really helpful, so I guess I'll be sitting down with that (& my screen reader that wasn't mentioned in my report 😉) to get my MR together.

Hi Katiee,
Whilst not the majority problem here, you might wish to make a complaint to the CAB.
However...B&W provide lots of useful info so stick with us!
As per previous responses, Assessment reports are often poorly written and inaccurate. It shouldn't happen, but sadly it does. But the important thing is to realise it is a systemic thing rather than a personal thing. The next important thing is to realise that it is very possible to win your case. Possibly at MR but certainly at appeal where the odds are much more in your favour. Yes it is annoying, soul-destroying and tedious to have to do MR/appeal but please don't give up.
Let us know how you get on.

Oh I've made a complaint, don't worry! I could t believe how rude they were!
The reason that I'm so upset I think is because I know it's 'just how it is', I guess, and no one really cares enough to actually make worthwhile changes to the systems that are meant to help.
A couple of friends are going through renewals and things, and their experiences aren't much different to mine.
The system is seriously flawed 😣

Hi Katiee
You and your friends are not alone in going through a rough time during this process. For many, it's dispiriting and depressing. Being a cynic, I think the system changes that are so needed are unlikely to happen because they have neither the interest or understanding to implement them.
I hope you get a response to your CAB complaint.
