rent was created by louie63
at the moment my rent is paid via UC
but what would happen if was to tell UC i will pay the rent
will they then pay this in to my account
standard allowance is £400.14
i get limited capacity
i get small amount of transitional
will the transitional go up
limited capability go up
before my rent was paid via UC to housing association the transitional was higher
I know that because i get 6 weeks free rent UC is calculated at 46 weeks
but is it true that UC issue 12 rent payments from 1st April till 31 march
thank you

Hi louie63
Is your rent currently paid direct to the Housing Association by UC? This is known as an APA ( alternative payment arrangement ).

Yes at the moment its paid straight to my housing association
I wanted to change this so UC pays me every month
That's why I wanted to know if the transitional would go up
because when I first starting UC the transitional was £116.94
but now its only £41.49 this came down due to me having a spare bedroom which is used for a carer would have to stay over night
I thank you for your reply and help

Hi louie63
Does the carer still stay overnight? If so the DWP may have made a mistake.
Additional room where renter requires overnight care
12.—(1) A renter who is a single person is entitled to one additional bedroom if the renter requires overnight care.
(2) Joint renters are entitled to one additional bedroom if one or both of them requires overnight care.
(3) A renter requires overnight care if the first and second conditions are met.
(4) The first condition is that the renter is in receipt of—
(a)the care component of disability living allowance at the middle or highest rate;
(b)attendance allowance; or
(c)the daily living component of personal independence payment.
(5) The second condition is that—
(a)one or more persons who do not live in the renter’s accommodation are engaged to provide overnight care for the renter and to stay overnight at the accommodation on a regular basis; and
(b)overnight care is provided under arrangements entered into for that purpose.
